It has been said that musical scales today are “dissonant” and “vibrationally limited”. These statements refer to a comparison with the so-called Solfeggio scale, originally made up of six tones. These tones were said to be used extensively within Gregorian chant and said to heal and bless the congregation. The Vatican has claimed that most of these chants were “lost” except for one known as “The Hymn to St John the Baptist”.
At least one writer has suggested that the chants were conveniently lost because their power undermined the Church.
In the early 1970’s, Dr Joseph Puleo, a naturopathic physician and minister, “rediscovered” the Solfeggio scale. Using numerology on a specific section of the Bible, he found a series of six sound frequencies which he identified as the six tones of the Solfeggio scale. With Dr Leonard Horowitz who also researched the six tones, Dr Puleo coauthored the book entitled Healing Codes for the Biological Apocalypse.
There are some interesting anecdotes about Dr Puleo. Apparently, when beginning to write about his discovery, he wanted to write under the pen name Dr Joseph Barber. There are various references to him by that name. He was told it would be safer to use his real name. After men came to his house and attempted to kill him he reverted to his own name. Reportedly, there have been other attempts on his life. Also some of the sources he contacted for further research were uncooperative or were apparently also threatened if they continued to pursue the subject.
Dr Horowitz, in his own research on the Solfeggio tones, identified three more Solfeggio tones resulting in a scale of nine tones. Here then, are the original six tones and how they are said to transform the listener. The newer three tones follow.
Ut: “Liberating guilt and fear” — 396 hz (hertz = cycles per second)
Re: “Undoing situations and facilitating change: — 417 hz
Mi: “Transformation and Miracles” — 528 hz
Fa: “Connecting, relationships” — 639 hz
Sol: “Awakening intuition” — 741 hz
La: “Returning to spiritual order” — 852 hz
and the newer tones: 174 hz, 285 hz and 963 hz
There is some interesting additional information on the 528 hz frequency. Some writers refer simply to this frequency as Love. Steve Chemiski, a biochemist, has noted that the clustered water molecules that support the DNA helix vibrate at 528 hz. Presumably this information is related to claims that the 528 frequency repairs DNA. In this context, Dr Candace Pert’s book Molecules of Emotion is often referenced. She explains that energy and emotion work on a molecular scale as well on the larger body.
However, the 528 information I find most intriguing is the story of John Hutchison’s and Nancy Lazaryan’s frequency experiment in the Gulf of Mexico after the BP oil spill in 2010. Using audio and radio signals including 528 hz, an independent lab plus returning wildlife verified that they had cleared oil and dispersant from an area of the spill. They said they wanted no money, it was a gift. That spells Love to me!

If you would like to explore the Solfeggio tones, the Brainwave Entrainment Store offers musical compositions based on each of the Solfeggio tones. They contain additional brainwave entrainment so that you can listen to each Solfeggio composition in an alpha brainwave state (relaxed, daydreamy), a theta brainwave state (similar to the borderline state between sleep and waking) and a delta state (said to be a shamanic state if you don’t fall asleep).
If you have experienced the Solfeggio tones, I invite you to share your experience in a comment.
